Staff seemed a bit grumpy, nerdy when I went in about a year ago. Learnt that there had been breakins and shop lifters and as aprivately owned business this prob hit hard so perhaps a wrong day. Recently went in Aug and all more lively and helpful.
Great range of stock and looks like improving all the time. A good sofa to relax in + good looking coffee-too for wifes, partners or to look a railway mags. I also liked the second hand boxes, some of which looks very useful and nostalgic.I was pleased to see airfix stuff there too.
To the bad reviews I suggest give them a chance, to the shop I say seek to improve on all fronts. If there is a subject that you are not up to speed on like the Triang xyz whatsit then say so. Some of us when we are in nerd mood are focussed and grumpy but that should be a route to share knowledge! And an excuse for us to learn to be sociabe! Some of us just arent sociable. I found the shop big, airy, cheerful and no pressure to buy. So the best in area for me- and appears to be getting better!

Good range of stock, decent prices. That all said myself and a friend found staff knowledge on older models was very, very poor, and wasn't impressed by the service we got. We were met with a quite agressive stance. Other people I know have been equally unimpressed.
I have tried to give a fair and unbiased report on this lot based on friends experience. I haven't voiced my own opinion as it would drop the rank for this lot to -100. Would liked to have given them a good review but I have to take into account all that has happened.
Not recommended, very poor, must do a lot better.

Wasn't very impressed at all with this outfit. Some of which I carn't go into details.
Lack of knowledge was a major problem, a friend of mine spoke to them about Tri-ang EM2's and the guy behind the counter thought they had X.04 motors in them instead of the double worm drive unit, my friend had to tell them which motor unit it was. Servicing on a loco I took in wasn't the best and knowledge of older models was pretty poor.
They do have a good stock range and reasonable price, but the lack of knowledge was a big let down. We got the impression they were more into get it out the door quick than customer service and seemed a grumpy know it all lot who actually didn't know that much. Myself and my friend won't be using them again.
