You have to visit Pennine models, the sort of shop you always wanted to be in. Not only is it amazing but so are the prices. I usually finish up buying more than i went in for because at last at these prices i can afford so much more. More than 70% of my locos have been sourced at Pennine [that's more than 20 locos] they really do have a large train set in the back garden [that's an in joke], do go and have a look.

We visited this shop today (12 Feb 2011) for the first time, having seen their stand at the Rochdale Railway Exhibition last weekend. What a place - they have EVERYTHING. It's like Aladdin's cave - their accessories range is excellent. Although they also do models and kits of cars and planes as well, they have not scrimped on their model railway range. The only criticism is that there is that much stock from floor to ceiling, there's hardly enough room to find floor space to stand and browse. Their prices are also very competitive.

Outwardly small, but rather like the Tardis, and crammed with goods. Very competitive prices on model railways, especially on the Hornby range. Surprising to find a shop which has good stocks of both railways and plastic kits - many seem to major on one or the other area. Proprietor is very knowledgeable, too. Sole disappointment for me - they don't stock Bachmann railways. Well worth a visit, and if you're in or near Howarth it's a must.
